Contraband can perform sophisticated Latin Jazz and Brazilian Bossa Novas, ideal as dinner or background music, and also Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Lambada, Samba-Funk, Samba-Reggae and contemporary Latin chart music creating an amazing unbridled and energetic party atmosphere

A stunning Brazilian showgirl, lead singer and dancer fronts Contraband, and can supported by backing vocalist and dancers. The performers sing comfortably in Portuguese, Spanish and English as they dance, fully choreographed, to traditional Latin grooves. This creates such a mesmerising effect that the audience are given a true taste of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival or Havana de Cuba club scene! 1. Latin Salsa & Brazilian Samba Band

Contraband’s established Latin Brazilian Party Band includes four musicians on piano, bass guitar, drums, percussions and a female Brazilian singer fronting the band. This can be increased by the addition of a trumpet player, saxophonist, guitarist or an extra percussionist. However if working to a budget, you can opt for a four piece with no percussion.

Thanks to the extreme versatility of Contraband’s professional musicians, they can provide a vibrant and energetic live performance including a wide selection of hot Latin and Brazilian grooves including Latin chart music. Such a wide repertoire of different styles will that you will keep your guests on your feet, and in addition, our graceful singer will thrill the audience with her beautiful singing and sultry dancing.

2. Tropicalicious Show

Contraband is available for this show from an 8 piece band up to a maximum of 20 performers. The line-up is based upon five musicians (on piano/keyboards, bass guitar, drums, trumpet, percussion) plus three singers with the option of adding dancers to the core group. The standard performance of this show includes a 45 minute set of background music followed a 45 minute show. Both sets can be tailored to suit client’s individual requirements, and the basic show can be extended to perform in larger scale productions. If required the show can include a Brazilian Capoeira Show as well.

3. Rio de Janeiro Carnival

To make a massive impact at your event that guests will never forget, you can re-create the energy and sensual rhythms of Brazil with this ensemble of 4 or 5 Brazilian drummers and three Dancers (also available in a bigger format). This performance will give the audience a unique taste of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival with an explosive mixture of both Samba drumming and dancing. The beautiful samba dancers in their shimmering bikinis and colourful feathers will provide a fascinating and stylish show. The performance includes the famous themes from the legendary Schools of Samba, and the length of performance can be tailored to suit your requirements. The Rio de Janeiro Carnival Band is suitable for centre piece performances at receptions, guest appearances, parades, showcases, and corporate promotions.

4. Latin Jazz Band

Contraband’s Latin Jazz band can perform in many different formats. The band is suitable for various events including jazz club performances, festival appearances, wedding receptions, and background music for corporate functions. The members of the band are highly experienced and skilled musicians who have worked extensively throughout the UK and Europe. The basic quartet includes piano, bass guitar, drums and female Brazilian singer and it can be extended to form quintet or sextet by adding percussion, trumpet or guitar players. There is also the option of a piano and vocal duo, which is idea for more intimate events.

The band’s expansive Latin jazz repertoire includes a creative blend of Afro Cuban-Brazilian grooves seasoned as well as famous numbers by the likes of Airto Moreira, Ellis Regina, Tania Maria, Tom Jobim, Djavan, Vinicius de Moraes, and Joao Bosco. This option is a fantastic choice for lovers of Latin music on a more refined scale.

5. Latin & Brazilian Dance Workshops

Dance workshops are a fantastic if unusual addition to your event. Contraband has expert dance instructors, that will conduct fun and exciting workshops in any Latin dance style. Depending on the number of attendants the workshop will require at least two instructors and the workshop will normally run for between 60 to 90 minutes depending upon your requirements. Contraband’s workshops are a great way to get your guests to “break the ice” and relax by quickly learning a few simple dance steps. This will help build their confidence on the dance floor and for corporate functions it can be a great way to encourage social interaction and help build team communication. These dance workshops can be booked together with a show or separately.
